ASABE Co-Hosts FAO Event on Circular Systems

ASABE recently co-hosted a webinar on circular bioeconomy systems at a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization forum.

The webinar, "The Circular Food and Agricultural System," was presented as one of the side events held in advance of the UN FAO's Science and Innovation Forum, taking place October 17–21. 

Moderator Rabi Mohtar (Texas A&M Univ), engaged presenters Angela Green-Miller (Univ Illinois), Bruno Basso (Michigan State Univ), and Ziynet Boz and Samira Daroub (Univ Florida) in a session that gave an overview of circular bioeconomy systems thinking, and of theprotocols of field crop and animal productions systems. The session presented examples and opened the door to further discussion of the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of the foodand agriculture system.

The event was co-hosted with Texas A&M University, University of Illinois, University of Florida, Michigan State University, and American University of Beirut.

In the lead-up to the FAO Science and Innovation Forum, the independently organized side-events on October 12–14 offered an opportunity for partners to present their insights on science, technologies, and innovations that can drive food systems transformation.
