From the Executive Director
ASABE is blessed to have an incredibly stable staff team, so it’s a big deal when we welcome someone new. Well, imagine our excitement since we have two individuals who recently came on board!
Corey Sayles is our new awards administrator, reporting to Sarah Rodriguez, who was promoted earlier this year to director of member engagement. Corey is a Purdue grad with an agricultural systems management degree, and she brings much needed insights from this important sector of our membership. Sadie Stell is a standards administrator and will mentor under retiring standards legend Carla Companion. Prior to joining us, Sadie was with a local nuclear power plant. She understands the importance of policies, procedures, and what it takes to establish consistent good work practices. Please join me in welcoming both Corey and Sadie to team ASABE!
Keeping with the theme of “what else is new,” both the Society and Foundation boards have been working hard over the past two years to refresh their brands. We had the goal to merge our rich history with contemporary imagery and forward-thinking messaging that will inspire potential members, partners, and financial supporters. Workshops, research, and strategy sessions helped us clarify our identity and outreach goals, and this work led to proposals for new logos, as well as mission and vision statements, and strengthened our messaging. The proposals were approved by both boards this spring and the rollout will begin at the end of annual meeting. Watch for the new logo and branding assets to be released over the next months.

The committee comprises representatives from each of the Society's technical and geographic units, as well as the international membership. The staggered terms are for two years.
Those wishing to put forth nominations are encouraged to submit names and supporting materials to a member or members of the Nominating committee by July 1. Current committee members are as follows:
Candi Engler (chair)
Stephanie Lansing (District 1)
Johnny Grace (District 2)
Amy Schmidt (District 3)
Fadi Fathallah (District 4)
David Lanning (District 5)

Editorial Board Announces Outstanding Editors and Reviewers
The high quality of ASABE'S peerreviewed journals could not be maintained without reviewers willing to spend hours evaluating author manuscripts and making suggestions for improvements.
The reviewer recognition program developed by the Journal Editorial Board honors up to 21 outstanding reviewers each year. For the 2022 publication year, hundreds of reviewers participated in the review process. During the year, associate editors ranked reviewer timeliness and review quality. Each technical community then selects an allotted number of reviewers based on the number of manuscripts reviewed.

Journals Name Superior Award Winners
Every year, hundreds of papers are published in ASABE journals. Members and non-members refer to these journals for technical information, trusting that the information will be of high quality and reliable content. During the 2022 publication year 235 manuscripts were published in the Society’s three journals. From these high-quality papers, five percent were then selected for Superior Paper awards.

ASABE Committees: Opportunities for Professional, Personal Growth
Looking for a way to give back to the profession you love?
ASABE committees--and there are several hundred of them--are the engine that powers the Society and all but a few have open membership. And with roster transitions for many of them timed to occur after the annual meeting now is a great time to consider signing up.
Our technical committees comprise the overwhelming majority of ASABE's structure, and their needs range from standards development to publications review to meeting programming. Help is always welcomed in these areas. But other needs exist and offer tremendous opportunities to meet colleagues outside of your technical area, expand your professional network, gain and expand soft skills, and make a huge contribution to your Society's success. Professional licensure, student competitions, K-12 outreach, and meeting planning are just a few of the Society activities that are coordinated by volunteers serving on committees.
Browse through our searchable committee directory to find a group that meets your interest.
