ASABE Named US Administrator of ISO Standards Group

ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN— The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has been named administrator of the US technical advisory group (US TAG) for ISO/TC 326, Machinery intended for use with foodstuffs.

Established in late 2019, ISO/TC 326 will oversee the development of international standards for individual machines, processing systems, environmental protection, and specific technical requirements, including hygiene and safety, for the full range of the food processing industry, from input of raw foodstuffs to the final product for human consumption. Its work will closely align with that of TC 293, Feed machinery.

The US TAG serves as the committee responsible for coordinating the US position on related ISO standards. ISO/TC 326 is the fifteenth ISO technical committee for which now ASABE serves as the US TAG administrator.

Engagement through the US TAG is now crucial to ensuring US interests are represented. Those with the expertise and interest in participating in the work of the US TAG are encouraged to contact Scott Cedarquist (cedarq@asabe.org; 269/932-7031) for more information.
