Join us November 14–17, 2023, for the first event to be hosted in Africa by the Alliance for Modernizing African Agrifood (AMAA) Systems, a Global Initiative of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. This technical conference and technology showcase builds on past special events with thought leaders, special sessions at ASABE Annual International Meetings, and connections with others with common vision.

We are seeking abstracts for presentations in the following categories:

  • Technical Presentations (15 minutes) 
  • Poster Presentations
  • Innovation Talks in Agrifood Systems (5 minutes)

The thematic areas are as follows:

Technology, Methodology, and Innovation—This theme focuses on appropriate scale technologies and methodologies aimed at addressing specific agricultural production, irrigation and water management, energy, storage, handling, post-harvest and food processing technologies and methodologies for African agrifood systems including digitalization of the agrifood system.

Business Development and Entrepreneurship This theme focuses on the facilitation of technology evaluation, transfer, and scaling and support the development of entrepreneurs and innovators in the area of agriculture and agrifood systems.

Capacity Building and Workforce Development< – This theme focuses on the development, promotion and enabling capacity building and workforce development efforts in the African agrifood system.


Exhibits for a Technology Showcase

The technology showcase is for both mature and start-up companies to exhibit their technologies, create awareness about their innovations and companies, and network with potential customers. Technologies can range from machine systems, crop production systems, post-harvest and value-addition for both cold and dry food chains, water, environmental, ecosystems and irrigation services, smart and digital agriculture systems, forestry and wood processing, logistics and financial services. Exhibitors could range from private companies, government parastatals, NGOs and international aid programs. The exhibits may be shown at the conference venue in-person or virtual or both.
