From the Executive Director

In the United States, we are only a few days from our Thanksgiving holiday, which is a time to reflect on life’s bounty with gratitude. It’s also a time to enjoy family and friends, and to prepare for the full-on sprint to Christmas and New Year’s. I’m grateful for a lot including the ASABE Foundation and all the work it does to support ASABE. The Giving Tuesday campaign just launched and Membership Development Council Chair McKensie Nelms created an inspiring video on why to give. It moved me to give, and I hope you do too.
A few months back I shared my plans to retire and since received many well wishes. Thank you. I’m pleased to report that progress is being made to identify my replacement. Tuft & Associates is the retained search firm, and they are actively visiting with potential candidates. It’s a challenging yet rewarding job. If you or someone you know is potentially interested, find out more and apply.

E-06: Here to Help You Change the World
ASABE members change the world with their work, and ASABE exists to support your transformative ideas. We can help even when those ideas seem out of reach.
The Foundation Liaison committee (E-06) assists the Society and Foundation boards by connecting big, creative ideas and partnerships with funding. The committee is seeking both projects in need of funding and prospective donors (individuals and organizations) who share our vision for a sustainable future. The committee is especially interested in big projects that need outside fundraising and can inspire more people to donate to ASABE. Proposals that include partnerships—especially ones that could lead to new standards or involve more of the Society—are great too.
If you know of opportunities for funding, have a promising idea that should be considered for funding, or if you're interested in learning about our pilot Ambassadors program, we'd love to hear from you. Contact E-06 Chair Brian Huenink, and check out the review criteria and application format here: E-06 and Project Funding.
Look for more information about E-06 in the next issue of Resource magazine and learn more about the projects chosen for the spotlight in 2025.

Giving Back Fund Welcomes Proposals
ASABE members have servants' hearts and can often be found sharing their engineering expertise with vulnerable communities. The University of Minnesota's Engineers Without Borders team, shown above, is just one example: The team established a community-building urban garden in St. Paul. And they earned valuable support for their project from ASABE's Giving Back Fund. Established in 2013, the Giving Back Fund supports and showcases the expertise and impact of agricultural and biological engineers.
If you're engaged in or considering a humanitarian engineering project that could use a financial boost, the Giving Back Fund can help. Submissions are due to ASABE headquarters by December 31 of each year.
Learn more, and contact Dolores Landeck for additional information.

Leverage the ASABE Brand with Tools and Guides
Because ASABE is a member-guided organization, the success of the Society's recent brand initiative depends heavily on our members in providing a consistent identity across our numerous communities, committees, business units, activities, and media.
Here's a reminder that, to make it easy for those who manage communications on behalf of their sections and communities, we've created a handy Section Brand Guide, and a second one for student chapters. These abridged versions of the comprehensive ASABE Brand Style Guide provide everything you need to support clear, robust, and consistent messaging.
Like the comprehensive guide, the abridged guides provide tips on how to talk about the profession and its impact. They also contain specifications for visual identity (fonts, logos, color palette, etc). Unlike the comprehensive guide, the abridged guides provide links to professionally designed templates, tools, and imagery, housed on the platform Canva, which you can use to set up a community logo, event flyers, social media posts, and more. We’ll add and update contents to keep designs fresh, and we welcome your suggestions.
Both the comprehensive style guide and the abridged guides can be found on the branding page of the ASABE website, along with the previously released University Chapter Brand Guide.
One additional tool that we’ve assembled for you is a shared Communications library, stored in Dropbox. You’ll find a variety of images taken at ASABE events, as well as some stock photography that can be used by ASABE staff and volunteers for ASABE materials. It, too, is a living portfolio, and if you have photos from your events and activities that you think might be of use to others, please forward to us at your convenience.
